OIT Store: Software and computer accessories

Purchasing Software and Hardware

The OIT Store offers software and limited hardware accessories, such as Apple computer adapters and external hard drives, to Princeton University students, faculty, and staff. Special pricing can be the result of academic rates offered by vendors, volume licensing, or contracts negotiated especially for Princeton. You can get the software and hardware accessories in several ways:

Site and Volume Licenses

Princeton offers a number of software products for which we have site or volume licensing for use on institutional machines only. Some software products licensed for institutional computers include Work At Home (WAH) Rights, which allow faculty or staff to install a copy on their personally-owned computer.

A number of software products are available to faculty, staff and students at no charge, with much of the software also available from OIT Managed Computer Environments (including DeSC, SCI and PVD)

Princeton Virtual Desktops (PVD) is Princeton's solution for delivering software to the University community through a virtual desktop. PVD provides improved performance over the current virtual desktop offering.

See Article KB0012822 for an overview of Princeton Virtual Desktops including instructions accessing the Student Labs virtual machines.
