Beginning December 2, 2021, the Princeton Zoom Admin Team has disabled the Call Me/Invite by Phone option from all meetings hosted within the Princeton Zoom tenant.
Previously this setting could have been engaged 2 varying ways.
1. A participant joining audio for themselves
If the user did not have the computer audio option defaulted, they will always be prompted to join their audio upon joining a meeting.
Within those options were
Phone Call, Computer Audio or Call Me
If they chose the Call Me option, they had the ability to insert their phone number and join their audio for that Zoom Meeting via their cell phone. It would utilize the outbound calling from Zoom.
Now, they can do the same by dialing into the Zoom numbers and entering the meeting id and/or passcode.
2. Participants can invite other participants into the meeting. This included a Phone Out Option. This would allow for the participant to name the guest connection and insert the telephone number and place an outbound call from Zoom to that number.
There are still multiple options for other participants to join, one being dialing in via phone, the other is sending an email with the invite, or chatting the other participant with the link to join the meeting.
If this feature was previously used, there are still alternative options to join via phone. These options are all now inbound dialing into Zoom. All the details should be in the meeting invite
or within the meeting by clicking the join audio option and selecting the Phone Call tab
Note that this setting update does not prevent any one from anywhere around the world from dialing into the Zoom meeting.
It only prevents dial outs from occurring.
