Eduroam Wireless: Install Eduroam Wireless Profile for an Android device using CAT Tool


What is the Configuration Assistant Tool (CAT)?

The Configuration Assistant Tool (CAT) helps you connect securely to the Eduroam wireless service. The tool provides a guided process to identify your device and operating system, then establish a secure wireless connection.

How to connect

  1. Visit https://cat.eduroam.org to download the profile for your device.

  2. Use the search field to find your home institution, Princeton University and select the filtered entry.

  3. The webpage will auto detect your device type. Select the option presented by the page.

  4. Select Google Play in order to download the app required to install the configuration profile to your device.

  5. Click Install to download and install the “geteduroam” app from the Google Play store, then go back to your web browser window.

  6. Select Continue in order to download the eduroam profile to your device.

  7. A status message will be displayed upon download.

  8. Go back to the geteduroam app, in the “select an institution…” field type and then select “Princeton University” and click “Next

  9. Enter your "NetID@princeton.edu" and "University password".

  10. A message will appear that Wi-Fi is configure on your device click “OK”.

  11. You are now connected to eduroam, you can confirm this by going to Wi-Fi on your device and confirming you are connected. You will see “Connected via geteduroam” under the SSID indicating it was done via the CAT tool.

Manual configuration steps

This information is provided if you experience difficulty using the CAT Tool. Please note that the following steps or order might be different depending on your version of Android OS.

1. On your Android device, go to Settings, then tap Wireless & networks, then Wi-Fi settings.
2. Tap eduroam.
3. Make sure that for EAP method, PEAP is selected.
4. Tap Phase 2 authentication, and then select MSCHAPV2.
5. For CA certificate, select "Use System Certificate."
6. Username/Identity: Your NetID@princeton.edu
7. Password: Your NetID password.
8. Some devices may have an "Anonymous indetity" field. Leave this blank.
9. If asked for a Domain, enter princeton.edu (not all Android devices require a domain).
10. Tap Connect.
11. If asked to accept the cppm-04.princeton.edu certificate click yes.
