Connect to Eduroam Wireless


 

 

All faculty, students and staff should connect their devices to eduroam as their primary wireless network. You may also use eduroam when you visit other institutions.

Windows

1. From the Windows taskbar select the Network & Internet settings icon (globe).

2. Select eduroam

3. Enter your Princeton netID as netID@princeton.edu and your password.

4. When prompted to continue connecting, select Show certificate details.

5. Check that the certificate matches. It should say cppm-04.princeton.edu. If it does not, please call the OIT Service Desk for support.

6. Select connect to complete the process.

The certificates used to secure eduroam wireless are valid for only one year. In order to minimize the impact of certificate renewals and to better secure your wireless connection, you should configure your Windows device with the certificate steps in this guide.

 

Apple Mac (MacOS)

  1. Click the Wi-Fi icon in the menu bar, then choose eduroam from the menu.

    If you don't see the Wi-Fi icon icon in the menu bar, choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Network. Select Wi-Fi in the sidebar, then select ”Show Wi-Fi status in menu bar.”

  2. Enter your Princeton netID as netID@princeton.edu and your password
  3. When prompted to Verify Certificate, select Show Certificateand ensure the certificate is valid. If it is not, please call the OIT Service Desk for support.

Apple iPhone and iPad (iOS/iPadOS)

Connecting to eduroam on iOS

  1. Go to Settings > Wi-Fi.
  2. Turn on Wi-Fi. Your device will automatically search for available Wi-Fi networks.
  3. Tap on eduroam.
  4. Enter your Princeton netID as netID@princeton.edu and your password
  5. If prompted, accept security certificate
  6. After you join the network, you'll see a blue checkmark next to the network and the connected Wi-Fi icon in the upper corner of your display.

 

Android

Depending on the version and manufacturer of your Android device, the following steps may look different.

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen.
  2. Touch and hold Wi-Fi .
  3. Turn on Use Wi-Fi.
  4. Tap eduroam.
  5. Enter your Princeton netID as netID@princeton.edu and your password
  6. After you connect, the network is "Saved." When your phone is near and Wi-Fi is on, your phone automatically connects to this network.

Connecting Streaming, gaming and IoT devices

If your device doesn't have the option to enter your netID, such as an AppleTV, Roku, Firestick, Playstation, or Xbox, you cannot connect it to eduroam. More information about connecting to servicenet is available in KB0013096.

Using eduroam at other institutions

Faculty and staff who also need to use the 'eduroam' wireless network at other institutions, please contact your SCAD in reference to Eduroam Wireless: Connect to eduroam on Windows Domain computers using User Authentication

Guest network: puvisitor

Alumni, visitors and guests may connect to wireless via puvisitor. The guest network will not allow printing, display sharing or access to secure University applications and services and should not be used by students, faculty or staff.
